United Asia Automotive Group, Inc. (UAAGI), the official distributor of both Chery and Foton vehicles in the country, completed its turnover of brand new vehicles to 2020 Tokyo Olympic Medalists Nesthy Petecio, Hidalyn Diaz, and Carlo Paalam. The turnover ceremony was held at the Windy Ridge Hotel in Tagaytay City.

Chery Auto Philippines handed a new Tiggo 2 to Nesthy Petecio, which is her personal choice. According to the silver medalist in Women’s Featherweight Boxing, it is the first time that she received a car as a gift. Petecio added that she is excited to drive the Chery vehicle to Baguio as her first driving destination.
The Chery Tiggo 2 awarded to the 29-year old boxer was the top-spec variant which utilizes a 1.5-liter engine paired to a 4-speed automatic transmission. Other features of the model include sporty leather seats, an HD touchscreen with Mirrorlink connectivity, and a reverse camera feature.
“Sobra po ang pasasalamat ko sa UAAGI at Chery for this opportunity na magkaroon ng bagong sasakyan. Mas nakaka-inspire po, at sana, ‘wag po kayong magsawang sumoporta sa mga atletang Pilipino,” said Petecio.
(I’m very thankful to UAAGI and Chery for this opportunity to own a brand new car. It inspires me even more, and I hope everyone won’t stop supporting Filipino athletes.)
On the other hand, the Foton Motor Philippines (FMPI) rewarded Hidilyn Diaz and Carlo Paalam with the TransVan 13-seater and Gratour MT MPV 16-seater, respectively.

First-ever Filipino Olympic Gold Medalist Hidilyn Diaz expressed that her new TransVan will be used for tours and family trips. With the model’s spacious cabin, Diaz also shared that she plans to use it as a service vehicle for athletic training with her team.
Meanwhile, Olympic Silver Medalist Carlo Paalam said that the new Foton Gratour will be used as the business partner of his family in the province. Hauling people and cargo won’t be a problem with the Foton commercial vehicle (CV)’s 1.2-ton of payload capacity and 1.5-liter engine that makes 110 hp and 145 Nm of torque.

“We are aware of how essential transportation is, especially now in the time of the pandemic. Not everyone is granted wheels that can safely and comfortably bring you from point A to point B. Our company believes that you, our Olympic Medalist, have already experienced tough challenges, and we don’t want you facing another one when it comes to mobility," concluded FMPI President Rommel Sytin.
