Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) announced a partnership with PLDT that looks to deliver the first-ever smart connected cars in the country.

Toyota will take its vehicles up a notch with PLDT

The Japanese automaker benefits from PLDT’s telecommunication technologies, which will connect Toyota cars to fleet business operators and private vehicle owners. It is made possible through the telco company’s IoT (Internet of Things) eSIM powered by PLDT wireless unit Smart.

“We at PLDT are proud to partner with Toyota Motor Philippines in advancing the value of technology for the benefit of Toyota customers. Through this milestone, we are powering the changing landscape of the automobile industry to be more ‘intelligent,’ with newer and smarter solutions,” said PLDT and Smart President and CEO Alfredo S. Panlilio.

Through this partnership, TMP’s myToyota Connect has become smarter. This provides Toyota car owners and fleet business operators the ability to have more control over their vehicles. Features such as location monitoring, car conditions, and driver speed can be tracked through the myToyota App.

The smarter services are now available in select Toyota cars

The myToyota app was rolled out back in 2020 as a digital tool that helps connect the brand with its customers. It has been continuously improved to become an essential online customer service system, allowing customers to enjoy a more convenient ownership experience with a touch of their fingertips.

TMP said that the myToyota Connect service is now available and ready for activation for select variants of the Hilux, RAV4, Hiace, and Fortuner. The activation of the service can be done through the company’s all-in-one customer mobile platform, the myToyota app.

“With our unified vision and combined efforts, we were able to launch a service that is the first of its kind in the country. It has been some time since Toyota boldly announced its global direction to transform from being an automotive company to a mobility company,” said TMP President Atsuhiro Okamoto.
