Ram unveiled the 1500 Revolutionary BEV (battery-electric vehicle) Concept at the 2023 CES (Consumer Electronics Show) in Las Vegas.
Ram 1500 Revolutionary BEV Concept
The Ram 1500 Revolutionary BEV Concept is the American truck brand’s sneak peek into its electric future. It is developed with innovative technologies aimed to “redefine the pickup truck segment.”
“The Ram 1500 Revolution BEV Concept is our clearest signal yet that we’re on the precipice of something extraordinary at Ram and points directly to where we’re going on our electrified journey,” said Ram brand CEO Mike Koval Jr.
The truck has grand saloon-style opening doors without a B-pillar
Built on a new STLA Frame EV body-on-frame platform, the Ram 1500 Revolution BEV Concept features bold futuristic styling underscored by the full LED tuning-fork headlight design. The “RAM” badging up front illuminates, complementing the innovative appeal of the front fascia.
The cabin space is now longer by 100mm over the standard Ram 1500, while the bed size remains the same as current Ram 1500 production models. New for the nameplate is a pair of third-row jump seats, which are mounted to the midgate. Since there’s no need for a combustion engine, the truck is fitted with a frunk that has a one-touch open-and-close function.
A full touchscreen display that offers up to 28 inches of screen space
Speaking of the powertrain, the concept is powered by two electric drive modules (EDMs) positioned toward the front and rear. Ram claims that the vehicle can add up to 161 km of range in approximately 10 minutes with 800-volt DC fast charging at up to 350 kW. It is also promised to be a leader in terms of range, towing, payload, and charge time.
The Ram 1500 Revolution Concept is packed with leading-edge technologies such as a Vehicle Personal Assistant and an AI-powered virtual assistant. It has a Shadow Mode that allows the truck to safely crawl behind the driver walking ahead of it. Other technologies include Advanced Augmented Reality (AR) Heads-up Display (HUD), an intelligent storage app, and autonomous capabilities, among others.
“At Ram, we’ve redefined what pickup trucks can be, and we will do so again by pushing past what competitors are offering by delivering the best electric pickups on the market,” added Koval Jr.
The adjustable air suspension will enable three different modes
The Ram 1500 Revolution is slated to have a production version by 2024. It will be going up against fully-electric pickup trucks such as the Ford F-150 Lightning and GMC Hummer EV.
