Without a doubt, the hype surrounding the all-new seventh-generation Nissan Z sports car has recently hit a fever pitch. To add more fuel to this though, Nissan Motor Co Ltd. has recently announced that the Z will be participating in the NAPAC Fuji Super TEC 24 Hour Race on June 4 to 5, 2022 at the Fuji Speedway.
The 2023 Nissan Z Nismo
Of note, this is the first time that the 2023 Nissan Z Nismo will be participating in a 24-hour race. To this end, we can see how it will hold up to the rigors of hours and hours of non-stop racing at one of the world’s premier race tracks. Also, the Nissan Z's participation in the said race allows Nissan to gather data in order to make it better as a track weapon.
Then again, do remember that the Nissan Z has already dipped its toes in racing. Specifically, it has already replaced the GT-R GT500 in the equally prestigious Super GT 2022 season.
The two Nissan Z cars participating in the Fuji 24 Hour Race however, will be specifically entered in the Super Taikyu Series (STO) class. This is a class specified for vehicles that are currently in development.
Also, the specific race specs for the two Nissan Zs participating in the race are yet to be revealed. We can, however, expect some heavy modifications considering that the ST-Q class is usually a host to unusual, non-homologated special racing vehicles.
As for the actual, production version of the Nissan Z, our last report stated that its launch will be delayed until the third quarter of this year. This is due to a parts supply issue.
From the pics, it looks like it has a stripped interior and a roll rage
For those unaware, the all-new Nissan Z is a homage to the first Z-car ever built by Nissan. It has a similar silhouette that’s coupled with a modern style, and it gets a new 3.0-liter V6 twin-turbo engine that can generate up to 399 horsepower and 475 Nm of torque. The said engine is paired with a six-speed manual gearbox or a nine-speed automatic transmission.
The starting price for the 2022 Nissan Z will sit at 5,241,500 Yen (or around Php 2.2 million).
