The Philippine release will follow shortly based on teasers, with the stuff under the hood still largely a mystery.

In the past few months, we’ve covered some details on the facelifted Nissan Terra. If you remember, the said SUV was released last year in the Middle-East as the X-Terra. More recently however, Nissan Thailand has brought it in and unlike the Middle-eastern version, it still uses the Terra name.

Moreover, the Thai-spec 2022 Terra also gains a 2.3-liter YS23DDTT engine, with the “TT” standing for twin-turbo. This is the same diesel engine that was used on the previous Thai-spec version and it still outputs up to 187 horsepower and 450 Nm of torque.

Of note, that output from the 2.3-liter twin-turbo on the facelifted Thai-spec Terra is virtually the same as the current Philippine-spec Terra. That’s despite the fact that the local version uses a different engine, specifically the 2.5-liter YD25DDTi single-turbo diesel mill. Also remember that the Middle-eastern X-Terra uses a gasoline-powered 2.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine instead of a diesel.

Apart from sporting a diesel mill, the Thai-spec 2022 Terra largely comes with the same mechanical bits as the Middle-eastern X-Terra. There’s also a 4x4 version which can switch to 4x2 mode as needed. The 4x4 trim for the Thai market also has a limited-slip differential, as well as an electronic locking rear differential.

Besides retaining its off-road capabilities, Nissan also made sure that the new Terra offers more comfort. For instance, the facelifted Terra has more rubber bumpers in-between its moving mechanical bits. This helps in staving off road noise, thus ensuring a quieter and more comfortable ride. The driver is also provided an improved steering ratio for better responsiveness and easier control during low-speed travel.

Moreover, the Thai-spec model also provides about the same level of on-board tech for comfort, convenience and safety as the Middle-eastern model. For starters, the high-spec variants are kitted out with a wireless phone charger, a Bose premium audio system, loads of charging points, as well as a sensor-activated electronic tailgate. The nine-inch touchscreen for the facelifted Terra can also connect to phones via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Moving on to safety, the new Thai-spec Terra comes equipped with a 360-degree view monitor, front and rear parking sensors, hill-start assist, traction control, anti-lock braking with electronic brake-force distribution, six-airbags, among others. It also has an abundance of driver assist features like a blind spot warning system, lane departure warning, forward collision warning, etc.

With all that said, there is certainly a chance that the Philippine-spec version of the Nissan Terra might be getting the same set of convenience, comfort and safety features. We source our Terra units from the Land of Smiles after all.

Another thing we've noticed from the facelifted model is a more prominent roof-mounted rear spoiler

When it comes to the 2.3-liter twin-turbo diesel engine though, we aren’t sure if the local version will be getting that engine. We can say that since the facelifted Philippine-spec Navara launched earlier this year still uses the 2.5-liter single-turbo YD25DDTi diesel engine. And for those unaware, the Nissan Terra is essentially the SUV version of the Navara pick-up truck. So there’s that.

As for when it gets here though, Nissan Philippines is yet to release any concrete information on that. As such, keep reading here on Philkotse.com for more updates on the facelifted Terra.
