This is a treat for those looking to buy EVs.

In accordance with Executive Order (EO) No. 12 that was issued back in January 2023, the Nissan LEAF electric vehicle (EV) will be getting a huge price cut from its original price of Php 2,798,000 to just Php 1,998,000. That’s equivalent to a Php 800,000 or 30 percent price reduction.

If one remembers, EO No. 12 allows for temporarily reducing tariff rates on EVs, EV parts, and components for five years. Nissan Philippine’s LEAF model, of course, qualifies under the said price adjustment.

According to Nissan Philippines President Juan Manuel Hoyos, this change may be able to help accelerate the Nissan Ambition 2030 electrification strategy for the country. Note that this Nissan initiative “aims to empower mobility and beyond by providing long-term sustainable solutions.”

Under the aforementioned strategy, the brand also seeks to increase its EV model range by 2030. Furthermore, Nissan will also leverage its EV technologies in addressing pressing issues plaguing the country.

For example, the brand rolled out the Blue Switch initiative in 2022, and it seeks to create partnerships with various groups to combat climate change, and further improve the country’s disaster response capabilities, as well as energy management via the use of Nissan’s Vehicle-To-Anything (V2X) bi-directional charging.

Remember that the Philippine-spec Nissan LEAF also comes with V2X. In a nutshell, its 40 kWh battery is able to power a home, and other external electrical devices such as power tools, etc. In 2020, the LEAF even provided power to a large Christmas tree in Ortigas.

With all that said, this is great news especially If you’re one of the many folks who are eyeing to get an electric car but find them a bit too heavy on the wallet.

For those curious about the LEAF, Nissan says that it can provide a driving range of 311 kilometers, and it can then be charged from zero up to 80 percent in just 40 minutes using a quick charger.

The 2023 Nissan LEAF then outputs up to 148 horsepower and 320 Nm of torque. To ensure safety, it gets several driver-assistive features like intelligent emergency braking, intelligent cruise control, and lane tracing, among others.
