Nissan Philippines is further pushing its Blue Switch program by announcing its partnership with the Philippine Disaster Resilience Foundation (PDRF).

The said partnership intends to highlight the Nissan LEAF’s capabilities to be an efficient yet sustainable aid for disaster response in natural calamities. The partnership also aims to allow Nissan PH and the PDRF to exchange knowledge and information in exploring ways how to address disasters.
Nissan Philippines showed the LEAF’s capabilities in supplying electricity through the electric vehicle’s (EV) V2X bi-directional charging. This technology can supply electricity to affected communities as well as power the equipment of emergency responders in situations of crisis due to natural calamities.
To put things in perspective, the Nissan LEAF’s V2X technology can power homes, vehicle-to-home (V2H), vehicle-to-building (V2B), and vehicle-to-grid (V2G) charging. Nissan’s V2X allows the EV’s battery to transfer power to other sources. Think of it as a power bank for your phones.
Nissan PH President Juan Manuel Hoyos proudly said that its partnership with the PDRF shows the company’s next step in its drive toward a sustainable and resilient future.

The PDRF is an alliance of businesses dedicated to building a strong, resilient, and disaster-ready Philippines. Nissan PH partnered with the PDRF since it is the country’s major private sector coordinator for disaster management.
"We are very excited to see how the Nissan LEAF can assist PDRF in providing innovative and sustainable solutions to minimize and recover from disasters," Hoyos added.
Nissan PH has previously shown the LEAF EV’s capabilities in helping communities struck by a natural calamity. Last December 2021, Nissan PH deployed the LEAF to help the typhoon-stricken communities in Cebu.
Nissan LEAF transforms into a mobile phone charging station
The car company sent its Power Mover vehicle-to-load accessory to Cebu to utilize the Nissan LEAF EV as a mobile energy source to supply power in areas where there is no electricity due to the onslaught brought by Typhoon Odette.
The Nissan LEAF was used as a mobile phone charging station, allowing individuals to charge up their mobile phones to communicate with their families and loved ones.

The Nissan LEAF 2023 Philippines is a 5-door hatchback fitted with an all-electric powertrain. It is offered in the Philippines with one variant only which is priced at Php 1,998,000. Powering this electric vehicle (EV) is a synchronous electric motor capable of generating 148 horsepower and 320 Nm of torque. A 40-kWh lithium-ion battery is used, which aids the model's 311 km range. Only a single-speed gear reduction system is utilized to exclusively send power to the front wheels.
Dimensions-wise, the LEAF has a length of 4,490 mm, a width of 1,788 mm, and a height of 1,540, with ground clearance and wheelbase rated at 155 mm and 2,700 mm, respectively. This is the first and only commercially-available EV in the country. But in the all-electric options, the alternatives of Filipino car buyers include the Porsche Taycan, Hyundai Ioniq EV, and BYD E6.
