Nissan Philippines, Inc. (NPI) is addressing the aircon cooling issue in the Kicks e-Power with the announcement of a recall that’s scheduled for next month.

To recap, members of the Nissan Kicks e-Power Club Facebook page sent a letter dated January 5, 2023, to NPI President Juan Manuel Hoyos regarding the issue. At least 14 members shared that the aircon units on their units have stopped working altogether.
Some expressed their dismay over the seemingly “lukewarm and generic response” when NPI advised owners to visit any of its authorized dealers for servicing instead of directly addressing the issue.
Now, Nissan has identified that a software and a component part of the compressor have caused the AC cooling issue in some Nissan Kicks units. The company assured owners that this issue does not affect the vehicle’s safety or its drivability.
Some Kicks owners are experiencing AC problems
Owners who are experiencing the issue will be given priority due to the partial readiness of the parts. In previous reports, the part needed for the repair must be ordered from Japan with a waiting time of two to three months.
The service campaign on the Kicks e-Power is expected to start within June 2023. NPI will provide more details about the campaign details and reach out to affect customers directly.
“We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and thank our customers for their patience in this matter. Our customers are at the center of everything we do and promise to keep you as a top priority,” said NPI in a press release.
A recall is scheduled for next month regarding the AC issue
The Nissan Kicks is a five-seater subcompact crossover that made its Philippine debut last August 2022. One of its most noteworthy features is the e-Power technology, which is the brand’s series-hybrid powertrain. This means that the vehicle runs purely on an electric motor, with the internal combustion engine (ICE) serving as a power generator of the battery only.
