The Nissan design team did a great job.

Earlier this year, the next-gen Nissan Almera was spotted on Philippine roads in camouflage. The camouflaged Nissan vehicle may not show much of the new exterior details, but it tells us that Nissan Philippines is rolling up its sleeves to introduce something new in the local subcompact sedan segment.

Fortunately, other auto markets like Thailand already have the revamped model available in their market. Youtube channel named IS Enform ENG shared with us an in-depth video of the top-of-the-line Thai-spec 1.0L Turbo VL CVT variant of the Almera.

The new Nissan Almera is highlighted by the new V-Motion grille finished in chrome. Its sleek-looking design is complemented by the new and sharper headlamps with LED front fog lamps, available only on the flagship variant. The front fascia looks a lot like the one on the Nissan LEAF which was recently launched in the country.

Going to the rear-end, the taillight housings get slimmer framed by a black trim. Also new to the rear of the subcompact sedan is the body-colored cladding on the blacked-out rear bumper which provides a less bland appearance.

The black trims on the exterior are brought into the interior as well as the seats and materials are now covered in black. However, the new Nissan Almera does have a new white soft-touch material on the dashboard which helps create contrast in the cabin.

Providing entertainment for the passengers is an 8-inch Nissan Connect infotainment screen that supports Apple CarPlay. The instrument gauge cluster provides a more innovative-looking digital display, replacing the outgoing model’s analog display.

In Thailand, all variants of the Nissan Almera are powered by a 1.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine that can generate 99 hp and 152 Nm of torque. Nissan boasts the subcompact sedan’s optimum fuel economy which is further improved by the use of a continuously variable transmission (CVT).

A cabin with a more upscale look

Nissan Philippines hasn’t fully disclosed its plans for the PH-spec Almera yet. But since we already have seen the model in the county camouflaged, it should only be a matter of time before we get a piece of significant information about its local debut.
