The fuel prices have been soaring since the start of the year which inevitably affects motorists. But Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI) wants to keep Filipinos on the road without worrying too much about gas money by offering its most fuel-efficient vehicles in its lineup, namely the Brio, City, and BR-V.
Honda Brio
Serving as the Japanese marque’s entry-level vehicle, the Honda Brio is a hatchback that is capable of registering a fuel efficiency rating of 24.39 km/l. It is delivered by a 1.2-liter SOHC i-VTEC gasoline engine good for 89 horsepower and 110 Nm of torque. The engine is paired with a continuously variable transmission (CVT).
For those who might fancy a sedan, the Honda City boasts a fuel mileage of 25.17 km/l, a huge improvement over the 2017 model which recorded 23.9 km/l. Under the hood, the City comes with a 1.5-liter DOHC i-VTEC gasoline engine that delivers 119 horsepower and 145 Nm of torque. The test unit used a CVT which is generally more efficient than a geared transmission.

Of note, the said fuel efficiency numbers were certified by the Automobile Association of the Philippines (AAP). The test runs follow certain driving conditions including a 60 to 80 km/h cruise speed at 1,500 to 2,000 rpm and an aircon setting of 24-degree Celsius with a blower fan speed of one.
