The long wait for the anticipated MPV is over.

Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) announced that it will officially launch the 2023 Xpander facelift, bringing improvements to its 7-seater MPV entry.

Mitsubishi Xpander facelift

For a short recap, the 2023 Mitsubishi Xpander hasn’t formally been introduced in the local market yet. Instead, MMPC only previewed the facelifted version and accepted pre-selling reservations. The company offered various pre-order promos as a way to drum up publicity for the MPV, including a chance to win a trip to Boracay.

Fast forward to today, the new Xpander is bound to be officially added to the local lineup. The facelifted model boasts a revised exterior, a redesigned interior layout, and some mechanical improvements that refine the driving experience.

Exterior-wise, the Mitsubishi Xpander features a new pair of T-shaped LED headlamps just below the sharp daytime running lights (DRLs). The revamped grille now utilizes a combination of black-colored slats at the top and a mesh part below it. A set of 17-inch alloy wheels with a sharp design help propel the vehicle.

A reworked cabin layout

Inside, a new dashboard integrates the “Horizontal Axis” design. It provides a more straightforward appeal, resulting in a cleaner yet robust finish. Providing the passengers with entertainment on the go is a 7-inch head unit as standard. This system comes with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and six speakers.

Under the hood, the engine from the current version has been carried over. This means that the facelifted model is still powered by a 1.5-liter inline-4 gasoline engine good for 103 horsepower and 141 Nm of torque. Depending on the variant, the engine can be connected to either a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission. The standard handbrake has been replaced with an electronic parking brake (EPB).

As said earlier, the MPV received some mechanical improvements including larger shock absorber cylinders and high-performance valves. With these upgrades, the vehicle can provide a more stable ride, an important characteristic especially for 7-seater family vehicles like the Xpander.

It will officially arrive this month

The 2023 Mitsubishi Xpander will officially be launched on May 19, 2022. It will start at Php 1,050,000 for the base GLX 1.5G MT and go up to Php 1,180,000 for the top-spec GLS 1.5G AT.
