The teaser confirms the upcoming 2022 Xpander’s revamped front end.

Several weeks ago, we showed several spy pics of the 2022 Mitsubishi Xpander. The images were taken during an ad shoot, and we saw that the update to the popular MPV will have a revamped front end.

Recently though, Mitsubishi Indonesia released an official teaser for the facelifted Xpander. As with most teasers, the car is wrapped in darkness, but we do see that it comes with a pair of T-shaped headlamps and a pair of longer LED daytime running lamps. It also has a more compact version of the brand’s signature Dynamic Shield grille.

With all that said, those details are consistent with the ones on the blurry spy photos. The teaser photo however, is yet to reveal any details for the vehicle’s side profile, as well as its rear end.

From the earlier spy pics, we do know that the rear might look similar to the current model. The marque also didn’t reveal if it is getting some updates to its convenience, tech, and safety features.

Again, as a facelift model, we are fairly certain that this upcoming version of the Xpander will be using the same 1.5-liter inline-4 4A91 gasoline mill that the current one uses. At most, it can make up to 103 horsepower and 141 Nm of torque. Power is then sent to its front wheels via a four-speed automatic gearbox.

For the Philippines, Mitsubishi is yet to say anything about releasing this new Xpander locally. But according to reports from Malaysia and Indonesia however, it seems that the latter will be getting it first.

The current Mitsubishi Xpander

Specifically, the brand is planning to unveil it at the 2021 Gaikindo Indonesia Worldwide Auto Present (GIIAS) on November 11. Indonesia, after all, is a huge MPV market. Of note, the all-new 2022 Toyota Avanza as well as the second-generation Honda BR-V might also make appearances at the said event. And yes, both are direct competitors of the Mitsubishi Xpander.
