It continues to give an impressive fuel consumption rating.

The Mitsubishi Mirage G4 might have received a facelift earlier this year, but its economical characteristics weren’t compromised. To demonstrate just that, Mitsubishi Motor Philippines Corporation (MMPC), under the supervision of the Automobile Association of the Philippines (AAP), put its subcompact sedan to a fuel test run.

The model's AAP test run

MMPC chose the top-of-the-line Mirage G4 GLS 1.2 CVT to bring home a good number. And yes, the vehicle didn’t disappoint. After a 236.227-km highway test heading northbound to SCTEX/TPLEX, the model posted an impressive 22.823 km/l fuel consumption rating, which is quite close to our Mirage G4 test run at 21.6 km/l conducted last October 2021.

“The Mirage G4 is a global model developed on three concepts, high fuel efficiency, affordability, and easy to drive. All of which we uphold to our customers with and through our new local slogan Life Made Better,” said MMPC President and CEO Mr. Hara Takeshi.

To get a realistic fuel efficiency number, AAP enacted certain perimeters in the test run which can be seen below:

  • The vehicle was at full fuel capacity
  • Tire pressures were set at 32 psi
  • An average cruising speed of 80 km/h was maintained
  • Three passengers were on board without extra baggage
  • A/C setting was placed to low cool thermostat and lowest blower setting

Aside from the Mitsubishi Mirage G4’s lightweight construction, it is also using an efficient powertrain. Under the hood, the Japanese subcompact sedan is powered by a 1.2-liter 3-cylinder MIVEC engine that makes 76 hp and 100 Nm of torque. It is connected to a continuously variable transmission (CVT) which generally provides better efficiency than geared transmissions.

“The positive results from the recently concluded Fuel Economy Run together with AAP, supports Mitsubishi’s commitment to uplift the ownership experience of Filipinos. No better way to manifest this than through a vehicle that is easy on the pockets and allows them to follow their hearts and be ‘G4’ anything,” added Takeshi.

More stylish yet still efficient

With that being said, the Mitsubishi Mirage G4 remains to be one of the most ideal daily drivers. It is also a practical choice considering its affordability and maximized interior space. MMPC is offering the model with a price that ranges from Php 769,000 for the manual transmission variant to Php 899,000 for the flagship variant tested by AAP.
