MG Motor has officially released a special edition version of the Cyberster electric vehicle (EV) in China. Dubbed the MG Cyberster Red Top Edition, it pays homage to classic cars from the brand’s British historical roots.
MG Cyberster Red Top Edition
Specifically, the red-colored soft-top of this special version of the Cyberster uses the same red soft top and white body color combination that was by the 1967 MGB Roadster and the 1956 MGA. Of note, the MGB was a two-door sports car and was one of the most popular models made by MG under British ownership, with over 500,000 units made. The MGA meanwhile, was the predecessor of the MGB.
Other than its special color scheme, the Cyberster Red Top Edition retains the sleek and sporty design of the original version. It gets the same sharp-looking headlamps, and scissor doors, as well as the same alloy wheel design.

As with the regular Cyberster, the Red Top Edition can churn out 536 horsepower. It retains a dual-motor setup and a 77 kWh battery pack, offering a range of up to 520 km according to the China Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle (CLTC). A lower-spec 340-hp single-motor variant is also available.
According to a China-based publication called Car Home, this special edition Cyberster’s selling period will start in March of this year. As of the moment, the company is already accepting pre-orders for the special edition model with a mere 100 units allocated for its initial release. Its price starts at 365,800 yuan or around Php 2,881,000 at current exchange rates.

Note that the MG Cyberster EV was already previewed in the Philippines. SAIC Motor PH, the official distributor of MG cars in the local market, confirmed prior that it will be launched in the first half of 2024. The question now is, will MG PH introduce the Red Top Edition as well, or will it remain a China-exclusive?
