The construction for the said service road will soon commence after the Department of Transportation (DOTr) through the Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with NLEX Corporation. The MOA also includes signatories from the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and the Marilao municipal government.

DOTr Secretary Arthur Tugade said that the Marilao East Service Road aims to make the travel of Bulacan-bound motorists more comfortable and convenient. However, the DOTr has yet to give the exact date as to when will the project officially begin.

“Transportation means accessibility. Accessibility also means convenience. They go hand in hand. We are partners in the whole-of-government approach to make the lives of the Filipino people more comfortable and convenient,” said Tugade.

Construction will begin soon

Under the MOA, NLEX Corp. gives the DPWH permission to use its right of way (ROW) for the Marilao East Service Road project. NLEX Corp. president J. Luigi L. Bautista shared that the project will offer better connection and improved accessibility between Meycauayan and Marilao.

"This project will ultimately benefit the public as this will provide our host communities in Meycauayan City and Marilao better connection and improved accessibility. We are more than happy to help facilitate the mobility needs of the two growing LGUs,” said Bautista.

The Mariloa East Service Road will start from the Barcelona Academy Inc. in Barangay Lias and ends at the Mario Santiago Road in Marilao, Bulacan. In addition, Marilao Mayor Ricardo Silvestre suggested that opening a “more direct local route to and from these areas” is necessary to be able to improve the traffic volume at the Meycauayan-Marilao Corridor.
