The LRT-1 Cavite Extension is a project that will extend the current railway from Baclaran Station to Bacoor, Cavite. The 11.7 km extension project will be passing the cities of Parañaque, Las Piñas, and Bacoor.

DOTr Secretary Arthur Tugade shared that the horizontal support structures were installed using the full span girder launching method. The use of special equipment allowed the Light Rail Manila Corporation (LRMC) to complete the said installation along CAVITEX more efficiently.

The launching and installation of girders for the LRT-1 Cavite Extension are ongoing as construction works now moves near Macapagal Avenue. The LRMC announced that Pacific Avenue will be closed to traffic starting August 16, 2021.

The north- and south-bound lanes will be closed from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. to give way to the launching and installation and girders for the said project. The LRMC added that the road closure on Pacific Avenue will be until August 19, 2021. Motorists going to CAVITEX are advised to take MIA road.

The LRT-1 Cavite Extension project is expected to be completed before the end of 2021. Once completed, the project is said to reduce travel time between Baclaran and Bacoor, Cavite from 1 hour and 10 minutes to 25 minutes. The project will also increase the passenger capacity of the LRT Line 1 to 800,000 daily.
