Kia has unveiled the full details of the 2024 EV9, the Korean automaker’s first three-row electric flagship crossover.

Following the EV9’s design reveal last month, Kia shared the powertrain details, next-generation technologies, and advanced driving assistance systems that aim to introduce conditional Level-3 Autonomy.
To recap on the design, the Kia EV9 is designed with the brand ‘Opposite United’ concept, which takes inspiration from the contrast found in nature and humanity. Exterior-wise, the Kia electric vehicle (EV) gets a boxy appeal, with the front end underscoring the brand’s new Digital Tiger Face.
Inside, the dashboard has a straightforward layout that is mounted by the curved, panoramic dual screens for the instrument gauge cluster and infotainment system. Over to the next rows of seats, the EV9 hosts a lounge-like interior made possible by the 180-degree swivel feature on the second-row seats.

Now, the Kia EV9 is available with a wide array of EV powertrains configured based on the Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), the same platform used by the EV6 and Hyundai Ioniq 5.
A 76.1kWh battery is offered exclusively on the Rear Wheel Drive (RWD) Standard model, with the RWD Long Range and All Wheel Drive (AWD) variants getting a 99.8kWh battery.
The RWD Long Range uses an electric motor with 201 horsepower and 350 Nm of torque, which allows a zero to 100 km/h acceleration time of 9.4 seconds. Meanwhile, the Standard RWD variant is powered by a more potent electric motor that generates 215 horsepower and 350 Nm of torque. This can go from zero to 100 km/h in 8.2 seconds.

Kia fitted two electric motors in the AWD variant, delivering a total output of 380 horsepower and 600 Nm of torque. Thanks to the increase in power and AWD traction, this variant does a zero to 100 km/h acceleration in just six seconds.
Soon, the torque can be increased to as much as 700 Nm through an optional Boost feature on the Kia Connect Store. The optional Boost feature completes a zero to 100 km/h run in just 5.3 seconds.
In terms of EV range, the EV9 is looking to run 541 km on a single charge. Using an ultra-fast 800-volt charging system, the battery restores 239 km of EV range in approximately 15 minutes only.
The GT-Line will be available with the HDP system
Kia is also taking a significant step towards full autonomy with its Highway Driving Pilot (HDP) system. This system will provide the EV9 with conditional Level 3 autonomous driving. To make this possible, the flagship 7-seater EV crossover is equipped with fifteen sensors including two lidars.
“The Kia EV9 transcends all aspects of traditional SUV thinking and represents the pinnacle of Kia’s design and engineering capabilities,” said Kia President and CEO Ho Sung Song.
Kia held the EV9’s inaugural physical debut at the 2023 Seoul Mobility Show a week ago. It is now being showcased at this year’s New York International Auto Show.

As of this writing, Kia Philippines hasn’t put out a word about whether the EV9 will arrive on our shores. For now, the company is championing the EV6 following the all-electric compact crossover’s recent Philippine debut held last March 21.
