Recently, the Australian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP) released the safety ratings for the all-new 2022 Isuzu mu-X. And just like in the ASEAN New Car Assessment Program’s test, the third-gen, D-max-based SUV has a five out of five safety rating.

Going over ANCAP’s results per category, the all-new mu-X managed to get an adult occupant protection rating of 87 percent over 100 percent, as well as a child occupant protection rating of 85 percent over 100 percent.
Moreover, it also garnered a rating of 69 percent over 100 percent for the vulnerable road user protection category. Lastly, it managed to get 84 percent out of 100 percent for the safety assist category.
On that note, ANCAP’s battery of safety tests serves to reinforce the ASEAN NCAP’s earlier findings, and it proves that the mu-X's array of safety equipment can perform consistently. Furthermore, the ASEAN NCAP’s test was based on the test results of the new Isuzu D-max. Contrary to that, ANCAP used an actual Isuzu mu-X unit.

However, one must also note that the mu-X that the ANCAP tested is the Australian-spec model so it has a different set of specs as the local version. Specifically, only the top-spec mu-X LS-E for the Philippines gets the complete Advanced Driver Assist System (ADAS). The Australian mu-X meanwhile gets ADAS as standard on all trims.
For those unaware, the ADAS is a collection of driver-assist features which includes forward collision warning, autonomous emergency braking, turn assist, pedal misapplication mitigation, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, among others.
Another point to talk about is that only the Philippine-spec LS-E has seven airbags. The rest gets dual-front airbags. Compare that to the Australian-spec mu-X which gets seven airbags for all variants.

Then again, all trims for the Philippine market also have anti-lock braking with electronic brake-force distribution, electronic brake-force distribution, hill-start assist, and hill-descent control.
