This could be your next family MPV.

With the launching of the new Hyundai Staria, people in Korea are now able to get their hands on the new MPV. As for other markets, Hyundai Motor Company announced that it will be by the second half of this year before the new and futuristic-looking model reaches them.

Fortunately, Motograph, an online automotive magazine in South Korea, gave a more in-depth look at the all-new Staria. It shows notable features one can expect on the Staria such as space, ride comfort, and driving experience.

The 2022 Hyundai Staria is designed with a simple body layout with almost no character lines from the front to the back. It also comes with futuristic exterior details such as the full-width LED daytime running lights (DRLs), a large grille that houses the headlamps, and the parametric taillights.

The Korean car brand shared that the design team followed the ‘inside-out’ approach which focuses more on the interior rather than the exterior. It can be configured from two to 11-seats, while optional captain chairs are also made available for the second-row seats so these can face rearwards. Interior space is said to be large enough for its class, making it an ideal family car.

It is possible to see this MPV in the country soon

Powering the Hyundai Staria is either a 2.2-liter VGT diesel engine or a 3.5-liter Smartstream G6DIII MPI gasoline engine. The diesel engine makes 175 hp and 431 Nm of torque, while the gasoline engine makes 268 hp and 331 Nm of torque. Both can be paired to an 8-speed auto, but only the diesel comes with a 6-speed manual transmission option.

Hyundai Asia Resources, Inc. (HARI), the official distributor of Hyundai vehicles in the country, has yet to announce whether the country will be one of the markets that will receive the new MPV this year. If so, it should replace the Hyundai Starex in the brand’s local lineup.
