Hyundai Motor Group recently opened its first-ever smart urban mobility hub a couple of days ago. Formally known as the Hyundai Motor Group Innovation Center in Singapore (HMGICS), it is located at 2 Bulim Avenue, Singapore 649674.

According to Hyundai, the new facility is envisioned to progress humanity via the inter-weaving of human and robotic processes. Human-centric technologies, particularly for safer work environments in automotive manufacturing will be a focus of this center. These will be far more advanced compared to the traditional conveyor belt manufacturing methods we usually see in car factories today.

While primarily functioning as a research and development center, the new facility likewise features the capability of manufacturing electric vehicles and other smart mobility solutions. The center’s researchers will likewise work towards making electric vehicle (EV) batteries cleaner and greener via a state-of-the-art recycling method.
The HMGICS Skytrack
One big highlight of the HMGICS is the aptly named Skytrack. As per its name, it is a picturesque circular road that runs through the center’s roof. Thanks to this, visitors can experience the full capabilities of Hyundai’s latest and greatest EVs like the Ioniq 5 via a chauffeured drive. We can also imagine that the Skytrack may be used as a test route for new, upcoming vehicle models in the future.
On top of all those, the center will explore developments in automating food production via robots and the development of other smart “Industry 4.0” technologies such as artificial intelligence, automated robot-based logistics solutions, as well as virtual reality, specifically digital twin technology.
