For most new car owners, maintaining a car properly can be a bit overwhelming. Sure, others can take to it like fish to water, but some will find that keeping track of the costs of buying the numerous automotive cleaning fluids and tools can be daunting.
To help alleviate the stresses of a new car owner, Hyundai Philippines shares a few out-of-the-box tricks and tips to take care of your ride whilst minimizing costs.
So you just bought your dream Hyundai. Now what?
1. Use a makeup brush – No not on you, but rather for your car’s air vents. Air vents do get dirty overtime after all. They can collect dust, and will need a good cleaning. Similarly, an old soft-bristled toothbrush can also reach those hard-to-reach nooks and crannies of the car’s interior.
2. Squeegee to get rid of pet hair – Using a brush-tipped vacuum works for ridding your car of pet hair, but some new car owners might not have a vacuum at all. As such, lightly spraying water on the fur-ridden seats and wiping them down with a squeegee can also work.
3. Cupcake liners for cup holders – Cleaning cup holders can be a hassle. So to prevent dirt from collecting in them in the first place, one can put in silicone cupcake liners to catch said dirt. These can catch gunk and are easily cleaned by taking them out and washing them down with water.
4. Brighten your night drives with toothpaste – Yep, you heard that right. Rubbing toothpaste on cloudy headlamps can clear them up. Use a fingertip amount and rub it on the headlamp with a dry rag, then wipe it down with a wet rag.
5. Creative trash cars – Most car models unfortunately don’t have built-in trash bins. Sure, one can buy aftermarket car trash bins but using an alternative can save you money. Some ideas include a plastic cereal container. These are cheap and are easy to clean.
While doing it yourself is pretty good. One can say that the quality of the preventive maintenance service (PMS) a dealership provides is still unbeatable. This, after all, is provided by professionals.
