In celebration of the International Dog Day, Honda UK has released a series of dog accessories. These are not only designed to keep your dogs comfortable and safe, but it can also protect your Honda as well.
Protection for your dogs and protection for your Honda
The aforementioned accessory pack is available for several Honda models including the HR-V, the Civic, the Jazz, as well as the CR-V. Depending on the car model, the pack will either consist of a dog guard, a series of rubber mats, a boot mat, a foldable cargo mat, as well as a boot step protector.
Here’s a breakdown of the Honda dog accessory packs per vehicle:
Civic | Jazz Hybrid | HR-V Hybrid | Civic Hybrid | CR-V Hybrid | |
Dog guard | Available | Available | Available | Available | Available |
Rubber mats | Available | Available | Available | Available | Available |
Boot mat | Available | None | None | None | Available |
Foldable cargo mat | None | Available | Available | Available | None |
Boot step protector | None | None | None | None | Available |
Not all of these accessories are compatible for all of the Honda models mentioned above. For instance, the boot mat is only intended for the Civic and the CR-V. Meanwhile, the boot step protector is only compatible with the CR-V. Two exceptions are the dog guard and the rubber mats, both of which can be used on all four Honda models listed.
These also come in different price points. The most affordable for example is the dog accessory package for the Civic, which is priced at £420. That’s around Php 27,000 at current exchange rates. The most expensive meanwhile is the accessory pack for the CR-V, which costs around Php 53,000 also at current exchange rates.
The Honda Dog Guard
Why did Honda decide to launch dog accessories? Well, Honda does have a history of being pet friendly as it also released the Dog Series products in Japan last year.
Honda UK’s head of automobile Rebecca Adamson also mentioned that the new line of dog accessory packs was actually put into discussion for a while now.
The final impetus that pushed the brand to finally release the dog accessories though, was the recent success of their April Fool's Day campaign. In the said campaign, the brand supposedly launched a “Pet Co-Pilot Front Seat”. As per its name, this suggested a front passenger seat designed specifically for dogs.
This can provide comfort for your dog and protect your vehicle from scratches
Honda UK’s April Fool’s campaign was well received by netizens. But besides giving a few laughs, this also brought to light the demand for automotive pet accessories, to which Honda now answered with its recent launch of dog accessories.
How about local Honda owners? Are these accessories attractive? Do you think Honda Philippines should release something similar as well?
