Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI) is looking to bring in the second batch of Civic Type R FL5 units sometime this year.

In a report by Autoindustriya.com, HCPI President Masahiko Nakamura said to them that the second batch could deliver around 80 units. This is almost twice the number of the first batch at 39 limited units, which are now all sold out.
The previous-gen FK8 was initially sold in the country in limited numbers. But with the global chip shortage now in play, the current iteration is being made available in more limited units.
Further in the report, the next batch could lose the blind spot warning system made available in the initial units. There is reportedly a shortage of that specific part, and the Japanese automaker decided to continue the assembly without it. Apart from that, the specifications should remain intact.
In the safety department, the upcoming batch should be equipped with the brand’s Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) called Honda Sensing, providing functions such as Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Lane Keep Assist (LKAS), Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), and Forward Collision Warning (FCW), among others.
More units are expected to come for the second batch
Under the hood is a 2.0-liter DOHC VTEC gasoline engine capable of generating 316 horsepower and 420 Nm of torque. As standard, the engine sends power exclusively to the front wheels via a 6-speed manual transmission with rev-matching.
To make drives more exciting, the hot hatch comes with Honda’s LogR Performance Datalogger. This system combines the vehicle’s onboard sensors with a built-in app that records driving performance on the track. It is capable of monitoring lap time info, g-meter, tire friction, and driving data summary, among others.
The 2023 Honda Civic Type R retails at Php 3,880,000. Nakamura didn't mention additional exterior color options in the report. If the current selection remains, the vehicle is available in Championship White or Racing Blue Pearl.
