It is made possible by reducing back pressure by over 20 percent.

The Honda Civic Type R FL5 is out and ready to hit the track. This is why many aftermarket brands are starting to roll out their kits for the hot hatch. Milltek Sport is one of these as it launched a new range of exhausts for the FL5 generation.

Milltek Sport is a UK-based performance exhaust manufacturer that has been producing aftermarket exhausts for the Civic Type R nameplate throughout the years. It offers exhaust systems for every generation of the hot hatch sold in its home market, including the EP3, FN2, FK2, and FK8.

For the new FL5-tailored exhausts, the Milltek Sport promises that these will improve the vehicle’s performance. The exhaust system reduces back pressure by over 20 percent, increasing engine power across the rev range and enhancing the performance of the turbo.

In terms of design, the company managed to increase the diameter of the exhaust valve by 15 percent. As a result, drivers can control the exhaust note and volume via the vehicle’s driving modes. Moreover, the triple exhaust tailpipes are now a single size, providing a cleaner and more streamlined appearance. Although, a design similar to the factory exhaust tips is also available.

A brand-new heat shield design improves the airflow around the rear silencer. Five different finishes are made available, namely polished stainless, Cerakote satin black, brushed titanium, burnt/blue titanium, and carbon fiber.
