The Honda Civic Type R FK8 is no longer included or visible on Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI) official website. The reason for this is that HCPI has already stopped selling the said vehicle.
Honda Civic Type R: Sayonara, White Ninja! - Philkotse Final Review
We reached out to HCPI for an official statement regarding the discontinuation of the outgoing Honda Civic Type R. The car brand said that all remaining local units of the Civic Type R FK8 have already been sold. As such, it has been officially dropped from its model lineup.
With the Civic Type R FK8 out, is it possible that HCPI is preparing to introduce the all-new model? Well, the car brand remains mum when we asked them about it.
While that is still in the wind, let’s talk specifics. Honda recently revealed the Civic Type R’s improved performance figures. Powering the model is still a 2.0-liter K20C1 inline-4 gasoline engine but now has 315 horsepower and 420 Nm of torque, translating to nine more horsepower and 20 more Nm of torque than the outgoing model.

To make the increase in power work, the refined engine comes with a redesigned turbocharger, increased air intake flow rate, and a new more efficient exhaust system. And like the previous iterations, the new version still uses manual transmission, with the FL5 getting six speeds. As a review, the all-new 2023 Honda Civic Type R debuted globally last July.

As mentioned earlier, HCPI has yet to put out a word regarding whether it will launch the new Honda Civic Type R in our market. Now that the room for a hot hatch entry in the local lineup has been freed up, it seems about high time to bring the next-gen version to Filipino consumers. But then again, HCPI has yet to release an official announcement for the all-new Civic Type R’s arrival.
