The announcement of Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI) that it will discontinue the Jazz is said to be an effort to make way for future marketing ambitions. Shortly after the report, the Japanese carmaker immediately shed light on the matter as it officially confirmed that the Honda City Hatchback will arrive later this month.
The Honda City Hatchback is the model that will replace the Jazz in HCPI’s lineup. Since the Honda City Hatchback will soon make its local debut, HCPI had to discontinue the Jazz so the two Honda hatchbacks won’t compete in the same market category. The Honda Jazz had a good 17-year run in the country with three generation updates, selling over 25,000 units to date.
The Honda City Hatchback
One can expect that the new Honda hatchback will instantly find its place in the local market as it will be familiar sight among Filipinos. This is because it shares the same platform as the fifth-gen Honda City subcompact sedan that was launched by HCPI last October 2020. There are no significant design differences aside from the rear end.
Both the Honda City Sedan and Hatchback will offer car buyers a vehicle that comes with a sporty and stylish exterior design, ample interior space, and advanced technologies. This makes the nameplate an ideal choice for individuals who live active lifestyles and are always on the go.
Catch it on Honda Cars PH's official Facebook page
HCPI hasn’t put out the specifications for the upcoming sporty-looking City Hatchback. However, it is likely that it will be powered by a 1.5-liter 4-cylinder i-VTEC gasoline engine that produces 119 and 145 Nm of torque. This is the same engine as the one used by the PH-spec Honda City Sedan.
To catch the official launch of the new five-door Honda City Hatchback in the country, HCPI invites interested individuals to see “Catch the Hatch” which will be aired on its official Facebook page on April 20, 2021, at 12:30 p.m.
