Stories about the love bus are probably something we’ve already heard from people who lived before the 21st century. Many Filipino commuters adore this type of bus as it prioritizes the comfort and convenience of passengers, offering air-conditioned buses for the first time in the country.
HS8J Low Floor City Bus
The distributor of love buses, Hino, is bringing the beloved people hauler back with new and modern features. Like the previous generation, the new love bus, HS8J Low Floor City Bus, is designed to deliver the utmost comfort to passengers living in the urban jungle.
With a ground clearance of 375mm, the HS8J Low Floor City Bus rides low, providing enhanced ride stability while reducing body rolls. In turn, standing passengers can keep their balance easier. The bus can carry up to 62 passengers – 36 seated and 26 standing.
Getting inside the bus is made convenient thanks to its step-free design where passengers walk into a full-flat floor. A folding ramp is installed which aids those passengers who are in a wheelchair for easier access to the cabin. Other interior features include LED interior lighting, 32-inch TV monitors, and a cabin air purifier system.
Powering the new Hino love bus is a J08E common rail, direct engine Euro 4 engine that makes 276 horsepower and 824 Nm of torque. It is connected to a ZF 6-speed automatic transmission. Auto-adjusting disc brakes with ABS (anti-lock braking system) are also installed at the front and rear wheels for safer operations.
“Hino is proud to offer this new HS8J Low Floor City Bus. As the only commercial vehicle brand in the country offering complete One-Stop-Shop advantage for customers, Hino is ready and committed to support the Filipino entrepreneur,” said Hino Motors Philippines (HMP) President Mitsuharu Tabata.
Soon, we might see Hino, in partnership with Toyota, roll out electric buses. Considering that the majority of Filipinos go to work by public transportation, electrified buses can advance sustainability and offer zero-emission operations on a larger scale.
