After a year since the next-generation Ranger Raptor made its global premiere, Ford Philippines is finally bringing in the performance version of the pickup truck.
Ford Ranger Raptor
This follows the surprise appearance of the next-gen Ford Ranger Raptor at the 2023 Manila International Auto Show (MIAS), which signaled that the truck’s local debut could just be around the corner.
No official specifications have been disclosed as of this writing. But since Ford Philippines will likely source the truck from the Land of Smiles, let’s check out the Thai-spec Ranger Raptor so we know what we can expect once it makes its Philippine debut.
While the next-gen Ranger Raptor was initially made available with a V6 gasoline engine only, Ford recently introduced a new model powered by the familiar 2.0-liter bi-turbo diesel engine. That said, one can expect that the upcoming PH-spec Ford Ranger Raptor could most likely be fitted with the said diesel power unit.
The next-gen Ranger Raptor will soon hit Philippine roads
The engine still makes 207 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque, sending power to all four wheels via a 10-speed automatic transmission. But the truck’s Fox shock absorbers are said to be upgraded, offering improved adaptive damping. Other off-road bits include front and rear differential locks, and seven drive modes.
Inside, the cabin should host Code Orange accents and stitching, which are exclusive to the more performance-oriented version of the Ranger. It is also expected to be equipped with a vertical touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Upon the arrival of the next-gen Ford Ranger Raptor, the truck will join the standard Ranger and Everest as the models underpinned by the updated T6.2 platform. All of these feature a more rugged-looking styling, boxier exterior, and C-clamp daytime running lights (DRLs) reminiscent of the Ford F-150.
Ford Philippines will launch the next-gen Ranger Raptor on May 18, 2023.
