It is the first of four BMW EVs to join the local lineup this year.

BMW Philippines is opening the year with a new fully-electric crossover set to arrive on January 23.

BMW iX3

To be more specific, the company will launch the BMW iX3 compact crossover. It is built on the same platform as the BMW X3, minus the combustion engine and the parts that go along with it. The iX3 will be joining the German automaker’s campaign to promote electrified mobility in the country.

No specifications have been disclosed by BMW Philippines for now. Since it is part of the BMW i series, the iX3 is powered exclusively by an electric motor. In overseas markets, the vehicle is capable of producing 282 horsepower and 400 Nm of torque in the rear.

An electric crossover with sporty aesthetics

Depending on the configuration, the BMW iX3 can offer an EV range of 460 km on a full charge thanks to an 80 kWh lithium-ion battery. Other performance capabilities include a 6.8-second zero to 100 km/h acceleration time and an electronically-limited top speed of 180 km/h.

As for the design, blue accents can be found all around the vehicle including in the interior, signifying BMW’s commitment to achieving a more sustainable future. Some of these are found around the grille, on the air vents up front, on the large sporty diffusers, and on the shifter.

It offers a 5-seating configuration

Upon its arrival, the all-electric compact crossover will be slotted below the BMW iX, a midsize crossover that uses an AWD setup. As the iX3 is driven by the rear wheels, it should be more affordable than the iX, which carries a Php 6,290,000 SRP (suggested retail price).

The iX3 will be the second BMW i model in the country

The BMW iX3 will be the first out of four BMW battery electric vehicles (BEVs) that will arrive this year. As of this writing, BMW Philippines hasn’t revealed the rest of the upcoming models yet. But at least we won’t have to wait for long to see the iX3 in metal.
