The first-generation Honda BR-V was previewed at the 2016 Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS), before going on sale later that year. Six years later, its successor echoes that local debut as the second iteration of the subcompact crossover premieres at the 2022 edition of PIMS.
HCPI has finally given us a peek at the PH-spec all-new BR-V
Honda Cars Philippines Inc. (HCPI) somewhat ends months of speculation with an exclusive preview of the all-new BR-V at the country’s biennial automotive exhibition. We say ‘somewhat’ because the model’s appearance at the event isn’t quite the proper introduction that Honda fans have been looking forward to; the official launch will come soon, at least according to HCPI.
Until then, interested buyers will have to contend with what they see for now. And by the looks of it, there’s plenty to be excited about. The current BR-V has consistently placed among HCPI’s five top sellers since 2017, the model’s first full year in the Philippine market. Honda has cited the BR-V’s styling, interior space, features, and performance as the key factors to the model’s success, outlasting even its Mobilio corporate sibling.
This isn't an official launch just yet, but it is a glimpse of what to expect
The all-new BR-V has some big shoes to fill, and it’s poised to take on the job. It already features a more overt SUV exterior design, thanks to the increased dimensions over the outgoing version. A new i-VTEC engine sits under the hood, still delivering 119 horsepower and 145 Nm of torque from its 1.5-liter displacement while spinning the front wheels with a continuously variable transmission (CVT).
HCPI says that the new BR-V comes with enhanced safety and new technology features, which could mean that the Honda Sensing driver-assist suite will finally be offered including adaptive cruise control and lane centering, among others. \
The second-generation BR-V can potentially build on its predecessor's success
Combined with Honda’s trademark flexible seating and versatility, it’s no wonder that the new BR-V earned Car of The Year honors at the 2022 OTOMOTIF Awards in its home market of Indonesia. From there, the 2022 Honda BR-V has already been exported to more than 30 countries, including Thailand. Now, it has landed in the Philippines, where customers will soon experience all the makings of another hit for HCPI.
The all-new Honda BR-V is on display at the 2022 Philippine International Motor Show at the World Trade Center in Pasay City from September 15 to 18, 2022.
