The market for fast SUVs keeps on growing, and Italian electric vehicle (EV) start-up Aehra is joining the fray with the unveiling of its first model, the SUV. Yes, that’s currently the name of the vehicle, SUV.

Aehra SUV

Not a lot of details have been revealed about the Aehra SUV as of this writing. But Aehra did share the exterior design details of its electric SUV which it boasts a lot. So much so that the company is looking to “rewrite automotive design rulebook.” Here is what former Lamborghini designer, now Aehra Chief Design Officer Filippo Perini has to say:

“With the Aehra SUV, we have shunned the conservative constraints that have encumbered all other car manufacturers in their approach to designing EV vehicles to date. Instead, we have taken a highly courageous approach.”

The EV has a unique door configuration

The Aehra SUV is designed with a distinctive front fascia that looks aggressive. It comes with sleek headlights and daytime running lights (DRLs) complemented with what appear to be air vents for improved aerodynamics. This is the same story for the streamlined side profile and active aero components.

According to Aehra, the design team used CFP (Computational Fluid Dynamics) for enhancing aerodynamics. This technology is deemed to provide greater information that those achieved in wind tunnels. The goal of the Italian EV brand is to offer a sporty, safe, and efficient car.

Aerodynamics is underscored

Getting inside the SUV is also an experience thanks to the use of butterfly and gullwing doors, components you normally see in sports cars. But the company prefers to call them elytra-like doors. Inside, passengers are promised a roomy cabin that is said to accommodate four NBA-size players in comfort.

“The Aehra SUV represents a radical combination of cutting-edge sustainable materials, ultra-advanced EV technology, smart manufacturing technologies, pure Italian design, and of course, a seminal moment in our company’s history,” said Aehra Founder and CEO Hazim Nada.

Aehra is looking to jump-start its brand with the SUV

The Aehra SUV is expected to be delivered to customers in 2025. It should go on sale alongside the company’s second model, which is scheduled for a global unveil in February next year.
