The recent teaser video that hints at the arrival of the Toyota Veloz has now been confirmed as Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) announced that it will unveil the new MPV locally on April 29.
The Toyota Veloz is coming to the local market
As a brief background, the outgoing Toyota Avanza was offered with the top-of-the-line variant called the Veloz. But for the latest iteration, the Japanese marque separated the Veloz from the Avanza nameplate to stand as a separate model. TMP said that it will be marketed to those who are ‘looking for a bold and spacious ride for family members and friends.”
For now, the company is mum regarding the specs of the upcoming Veloz. But looking at the Indonesia-spec model where the unit will be exported, Filipino car buyers could now benefit from more Toyota Safety Sense features. Some of these likely include the Pre-Collision System, Lane Departure Assist, and Pedal Misoperation Control.
Design-wise, the Toyota Veloz should be getting a different massive black grille that houses the brand’s logo. The side profile is expected to come with a larger set of 17-inch alloy wheels for a bolder stance. Moreover, a full-width taillight can be seen on the rear end.

Under the hood, the upcoming MPV will likely use the same engine as the top-spec G variant of the PH-spec Toyota Avanza. It is a 1.5-liter 2NR-VE inline-4 gasoline engine good for 105 horsepower and 138 Nm of torque. This sends power to the front wheels via a 4-speed automatic transmission.
“The upcoming introduction of the all-new Veloz marks another milestone for Toyota in the Philippines,” said TMP’s First Vice President for Vehicle Sales Operations Sherwin Chualim.
“Previously known as the top grade variant of the Avanza compact MPV range, the Veloz has evolved to become a new standalone brand ready to claim its position as a subcompact SUV of choice for customers seeking new adventures,” he added.
TMP will be hosting a live stream for the local launch of the all-new Toyota Veloz via its Facebook and YouTube accounts on April 29. The company will start accepting reservations by April 23, offering the new model with a starting price of Php 1,185,000.
