The new turbo engine is more powerful and fuel-efficient.

There’s plenty to like about the all-new Nissan Almera which was unveiled by Nissan Philippines earlier this month. But one of the updated features that stands out the most would probably be the new powertrain. The 2022 Almera is now powered by a smaller 1.0-liter gasoline engine paired to a turbocharger as standard.

Not only did the new engine crank the power up to 99 hp and 160 Nm of torque, but it also improved the fuel efficiency of the model. We recently drove the Japanese subcompact sedan on the highway and it managed to give us 23.4 km/l. To note, the fuel economy run involves driving at an average speed of 90 km/h and no passengers were seated at that time.

To further emphasize how impressive the fuel efficiency rating of the 2022 Nissan Almera is, let’s compare it to the numbers of its segment rivals based on our Philkotse testings.

An impressive 23.4 km/l from the new Almera

The best-selling subcompact sedan in the local market, the Toyota Vios, registered 19.3 km/l on the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) while driving at an average speed of 90 km/h. Meanwhile, the closest rival to match the Almera’s numbers is the Honda City which posted 20.6 km/l on the highway while driving at the same speed as the two.

With the new 7-inch TFT meter with an integrated drive-assist display, drivers can now monitor the fuel efficiency numbers of the vehicle in a more modern way. It can also display a digital tachometer, mileage, kilometers according to remaining fuel in the tank, and time. The Nissan Almera still uses an analog gauge for the speedometer.

The fourth-gen Nissan Almera offers a new driving experience

For a vehicle competing in the small sedan segment, the Nissan Almera’s impressive fuel efficiency rating should be a feature worth considering by car buyers. Nissan Almera 2022 price Philippines for the fourth-gen version ranges from Php 728,000 for the EL MT to Php 1,098,000 for the VL N-Sport CVT.
