The refreshed 2024 Nissan Almera is now in the Philippine market, and it gets several improvements that might make it a stronger player in the sedan segment.
Let's compare the old (left) vs the new (right) Nissan Almera
But how is the updated Almera different from the pre-facelifted version in terms of appearance and specs? Let’s find out by comparing the outgoing Nissan Almera against the new one to find out.
2024 Nissan Almera Old Vs New: Exterior
The biggest difference between the old and new Almera has to do with their front ends. Nissan’s V-motion grille makes a return on the new Almera, but it gets a drastic makeover that omits the obvious chrome “V” from the old model. The new design is more intricate, and the main front vent also appears larger.
The older outgoing version
Other than the front, the 2024 Nissan Almera also comes with new wheel designs that look more dynamic-looking compared to the flatter set on the outgoing model. The old Almera’s LED headlamp, side portion, and rear section, however, were mostly carried over to the facelift.

2024 Nissan Almera Old vs New: Interior
Inside, the new Almera doesn’t detract that much from the outgoing version. Most control surfaces have the same position, and even the same flat-bottom steering wheel makes a return. The 2024 model, however, does get more visual flair thanks to its black and dark blue cabin color scheme. Contrast that to the off-white and black of the pre-facelift model.

Other interior features carried over to the new Almera are the single-zone automatic climate control system, a seven-inch TFT meter, power-folding side mirrors, a push-to-start button, as well as black leather or fabric seats. The rear seats still get a 60:40 split folding function too.

2024 Nissan Almera Old vs New: Tech & Safety
Another big change for the 2024 model is that all variants now get a total of six airbags. Previously, the manual trim only came with dual front airbags.
Standard safety bits like hill-start assist, stability control system, ISOFIX child seat anchors, car alarm, and engine immobilizer are all standard across the board for both the old Almera and the refreshed one.
Pre-facelift Almera from the rear
As with the previous version though, only the top-spec model, which is now the VL, gets the Nissan Intelligent Mobility suite. This includes blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane departure warning, and high beam assist. Both the VL and VE then get an around-view monitor and an automatic emergency braking system.
The new Almera and old Almera use an eight-inch touchscreen for entertainment. On the old and new trims that have this, a six-piece speaker is then provided. Remember though that, unlike the old headunit which only had Apple CarPlay, the new one on the updated Nissan sedan now gets Android Auto as well.
The refreshed model's rear end
Also provided for the refreshed Almera’s top-spec VL trim is the NissanConnect Services. It enables a user to remotely control various features of the car via one’s smartphone including remote lock/unlock, remote start, a car finder function, etc. This feature was not available for the older version of the sedan.
2024 Nissan Almera Old vs New: Engine
The 2024 Nissan Almera retains the same 1.0-liter inline-3 turbo gasoline engine that was used by the pre-facelift model. Its power output has remained unchanged at 99 horsepower and 152 Nm of torque, and it gets the same five-speed manual or continuously variable transmission (CVT) options as well.
It uses the same engine as the outgoing pre-facelift model
No further adjustments were made to its chassis as well. For that matter, the newer facelift still utilizes a MacPherson strut front suspension and a torsion beam rear suspension.
For those curious, the 2024 Nissan Almera’s price ranges from Php 839,000 to Php 1,149,000.

Nissan Almera Launch
The current-gen Nissan Almera was launched for the Philippine market in October 2021. It then received a facelift in July 2023 with three different variants: the top-spec VL, the mid-spec VE, and the entry-level EL.
Nissan Almera Exterior
On the outside, the Almera reflects the current Nissan design language. It still comes with a variation of the V-motion grille and a streamlined silhouette that rides on a set of 16-inch or 15-inch wheels
Other exterior equipment available on the top-spec Almera includes LED headlamps, LED daytime running lamps, and LED taillights.
Nissan Almera Interior
All occupants of the Almera are kept cool by a single-zone automatic climate control system. The VL and VE trims then get a digital gauge cluster, leather seat wraps, and an intelligent key with a remote engine start feature. Its second row then comes with a 60:40 split-folding function.
Technology & Safety Features
The higher-spec Almera variants get an eight-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, and USB connectivity. The said headunit is then linked to a six-piece speaker system.
Only the VL gets the full version of the Nissan Intelligent Mobility safety suite. This collection of tech features includes blind spot warning, rear cross-traffic alert, high beam assist, and forward emergency braking. Both the VL and the VE are also kitted out with an around-view monitor and hill-start assist.
Also exclusive to the VL is the NissanConnect Services. This allows a user to remotely find his or her Almera. It likewise provides a remote engine start/stop feature, and it also has various alerts for various situations.
Standard safety features found on all Almera variants include anti-lock braking, a total of six airbags, ISOFIX child seat anchors, a car alarm, an engine immobilizer, and stability control. Only the VL gets tire pressure monitoring, but both the latter and the VE trim come with cruise control.
Platform & Chassis
For ride comfort, the Almera uses a MacPherson strut front suspension and a torsion beam rear suspension. Braking is then handled by a front disc brake and a rear drum brake.
The refreshed Almera is currently in its fourth-generation form. It uses the Nissan V platform.
Engine & Drivetrain
Under the hood of the new Almera is a 1.0-liter inline-3 turbocharged engine. It can produce up to 98 horsepower and 152 Nm of torque at maximum. Power is then sent to its front wheels via an Xtronic Continuously Variable Transmission. The new Almera also has idle start/stop technology.
The Nissan Almera for the Philippine market is one of the few turbocharged sedans available right now. That said though, some models stand to produce slightly more output regardless of the Nissan model’s use of forced induction. On the flip side, this sedan is one of the few examples that gets an ADAS suite. So in terms of tech, it sits high on the totem pole.
