Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI) announced that the 2022 HR-V non-turbo variant managed to register 29.66 km/l in a fuel economy run conducted in partnership with the Automobile Association of the Philippines (AAP).
Honda HR-V S
The impressive fuel efficiency numbers are posted by the subcompact crossover’s base variant, the Honda HR-V S. Fuel efficiency is an important characteristic that car buyers might want to look for, especially considering the high fuel prices. Here are the following driving conditions set at the model’s AAP fuel economy run:
- 60 to 80 km/h speed at 1,500 rpm to 2,000 rpm
- Air-conditioning set at 24 degrees Celsius temperature
- Number one fan speed
The Honda HR-V S is powered by a 1.5-liter DOHC i-VTEC naturally-aspirated gasoline engine capable of generating 119 horsepower and 145 Nm of torque. HCPI noted that the use of a continuously variable transmission (CVT) further improves the fuel efficiency of its cars, as well as provides a smooth ride.
29.66 km/l is noteworthy for a crossover
Another piece of equipment that the model boasts is the Honda Sensing. It provides advanced driving assistance features for a safer and more convenient drive. Among the Honda Sensing eight bits are Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS), Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), and Road Departure Mitigation (RDM).
The Honda Civic and top-spec Honda HR-V V also took a fuel economy test run under the supervision of the AAP. The compact sedan got 21.43 km/l, while the HR-V V returned 24.34 km/l. Both are powered by the same 1.5-liter power unit as the HR-V S, but with a turbocharger for improved performance.
Impressive fuel efficiency numbers
“With fluctuating fuel prices, we understand how important fuel efficiency is to vehicle owners. Through this eco run, we are not only demonstrating that Honda vehicles are fuel efficient in local conditions, we also want to encourage customers that they too can have excellent fuel mileage,” said HCPI President Mr. Masahiko Nakamura.
“It does help to have safe driving habits and to observe the periodic maintenance service, especially combined with advanced technology features like the Honda Sensing,” added Nakamura.
