There are several markets so far where the 2022 Honda Civic car has landed this year. The first is in North America where it made its global premiere, followed by releases in Canada, Thailand, and most recently in Singapore. Fans of the brand are crossing their fingers that Honda Cars Philippines makes our country the next in line for the compact sedan.
Our insider source claims that the 2022 Honda Civic will land in the Philippines by November 2021
Philkotse has learned from an insider source that the new-generation model will make its local debut by November 2021. At least one unit has supposedly arrived in the Philippines for promotional shoots in preparation for the upcoming launch. Details are scarce as of this writing, but it’s safe to say that Philippine-spec units won’t stray too much from the international releases.
Built on an evolved version of the outgoing Civic’s chassis, the latest iteration carries a less aggressive design compared to its predecessor. Minimal differences set the otherwise identical overseas models apart, starting with the available trim levels. A total of four variants are available to customers in the U.S. and Canada, as opposed to three in Thailand and only a single variant in Singapore.
The 1.5-liter turbocharged VTEC engine will likely be an available option
If HCPI were to follow a combination of all versions, the local 2022 Civic might be getting a choice of two available power plants. The base variants could come with a 2.0-liter naturally aspirated VTEC gasoline engine that makes 158 horsepower and 187 Nm of torque, while higher-spec variants will likely feature the smaller, but more potent 1.5-liter VTEC turbo rated at 178 horsepower and 240 Nm of twist.
Honda Sensing will supposedly be available on the top-spec variant
All releases so far come with a continuously variable transmission as the only available gearbox option. Another feature they all have in common is the Honda Sensing suite of driver-assist systems, which includes autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and lane-keeping assist. Our insider source claims that for Philippine units, only the flagship variant will come with Honda Sensing as standard.
So far, HCPI is keeping mum on the veracity of this report, but we’ll keep you posted on updates as they come.
We’re always hot on the trail of upcoming automotive releases, rumored or otherwise, at Phil Kotse.
