The all-new Toyota Avanza has arrived on our shores, showcasing a more stylish exterior, improved interior, and updated tech. This makes the Avanza an even more competitive vehicle in the more affordable side of the MPV market.
All-new Toyota Avanza
Now that the new Toyota Avanza is locked in the local lineup, the outgoing models of the Japanese MPV might be in some trouble in terms of design. The huge leap in design could make the old models look outdated whenever they are next to the latest iteration.
But there is a solution to that. Modifying your Toyota Avanza can make the MPV look up to speed even with the simplest of upgrades. The model is designed with plenty of cost-cutting measures to keep its price tag relatively affordable. As such, a modified Toyota Avanza should be a fresh looker whenever it hits the roads.
So with that being said, here are some of the modified Toyota Avanza concepts you can consider before heading to your preferred automotive shop. The outcome could vary depending on how much you are willing to spend on your MPV, as well as how far you are going to take the modification.
Toyota Avanza Modified: Off-road
Starting this list is the Toyota Avanza modified for the off-road. Sure, the MPV doesn’t come with a dedicated 4x4 system or a relatively high ground clearance to do so. However, the outgoing model comes with a rear-wheel-drive system and body-on-frame chassis which should do just fine in light off-road conditions.

You can add a roof rack on top of your vehicle so you can haul more cargo whenever you plan a trip with the family. This is very useful if you will maximize the model’s seating capacity of seven. Plus, a roof rack can improve the space in the cabin so every passenger can have a more comfortable trip.
As for the all-new Toyota Avanza, the model is now sitting on a unibody chassis called the Daihatsu New Global Architecture (DNGA-B) just like the Toyota Raize. It also now utilizes a front-wheel-drive system. On paper, the off-road capability of the latest iteration is not as extensive as the outgoing model.

But if you are still feeling ambitious, you can try adding massive off-road tires and suspension lift to your off-road modified Toyota Avanza. Throw in a bull bar as well to avoid damaging the front end of the MPV. However, take note that Avanza is still more ideal as a city car.
Toyota Avanza Modified: Low life
Speaking of low-riding vehicles, the modified Toyota Avanza concept is a lowered version. In the photo shared by GridOto, the Avanza comes with a more appealing stance that is complemented by the integration of LED daytime running lights (DRLs), a feature that is not available in the standard Philippine-spec version.
Owner Rahmadi shared the modification kits he installed on his MPV. The list includes a white painted side skirt, Toyota Yaris TRD headlamps, and a new rear bumper. Supporting his Avanza’s low stance are custom Suzuki Futura springs at the front with Avanza shock absorbers and customer Honda Civic spring at the rear with Suzuki Carry shock absorbers.

The low-riding Toyota Avanza is ideal for young owners, especially those who don’t have a family yet. Going on a trip with the whole family can be a problem, especially for the undercarriage of the vehicle. You might find yourself limiting the number of cargoes you will bring just to keep your vehicle’s low stance looking intact.
But whenever you are pulling up in a modified Toyota Avanza with a lowered suspension, your MPV will surely be eye-candy on the road. While you’re at it, you can consider installing a new set of tires that can enhance the overall exterior design. Although, we must say that the outgoing model’s 15-inch alloy wheel design is not too shabby.
Toyota Avanza Modified: Better sound system
The Toyota Avanza is one of the most affordable 7-seater vehicles you can get in the Philippines. Thanks to its space, Filipino car buyers always shortlist the Avanza whenever they are in the market for a family vehicle. If they are looking for a more premium Toyota MPV, the Innova is available in the local lineup.
But just in case you don’t need all the space, you can consider removing the third-row seats in favor of a new speaker system. The outgoing PH-spec Toyota Avanza models come standard with four speakers only. As such, improving the sound system of your MPV should provide better entertainment on the go.

Automotive shops can offer you customized speaker frames that will fit your modified Toyota Avanza. Don’t forget to include a subwoofer for enhancing the low-end frequencies of the songs or movies you are playing in your vehicle. You might as well include LED lighting with different color sets to bring out the speaker system even more visually.
It is safe to say that this modification is only ideal for families of at least four. If you have three children, then the third-row seats could be handy especially if your kids want to tag some of their friends along. In addition, the seats don’t fold flat so you can just remove them if you find yourself hauling more cargo than people most of the time.
Toyota Veloz
In some ASEAN markets including Indonesia, Toyota is offering the all-new Veloz. It is considered to be the more premium version of the Avanza. One can think of this along the lines of the Mitsubishi Xpander and its relationship with the Xpander Cross. The Toyota Veloz gets a “modified-look” thanks to enhancements in the design.
Toyota Veloz
Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) is currently offering the all-new Avanza only. As of this writing, the company hasn’t put out a word just yet as to whether it will introduce the Veloz in the country or not. If the Veloz will arrive, then you can wait for this version so you don’t have to visit automotive shops to slick up the said MPV.
