Launch
SsangYong Berjaya Motor Philippines launched the Tivoli nameplate in 2016. The South Korean car company unveiled three new models at the Manila International Auto Show that same year.
The Tivoli nameplate is the biggest game-changer for the Korean car manufacturer across the world. It’s understandable why SsangYong decided to capitalize on this new brand. It is also the reason why the Korean carmaker came up with an idea to make a version of the Tivoli with a long wheelbase – the Tivoli XLV. This slightly bigger and longer version of the Korean crossover focused on providing more interior space while keeping the seats good for five occupants.

Exterior
SsangYong Tivoli was the first model from the South Korean carmaker lineup that departs from the dated and weird-looking previous generation designs, which is an excellent start for the SsangYong Tivoli XLV. The model features substantial design changes and longer proportions. The XLV is making a new identity that separates it from the Tivoli.
The front part of the SsangYong Tivoli gets a bold-looking and aggressive frontal stance along with a sleek black bar in place of the big grille. It also features large angular headlamps on both sides. The fog lamps also got large housings surrounding them with silver finish.
Interior
The interior of the Ssangyong Tivoli XLV is the same with the Tivoli, and not a single significant change was done in the cabin. But because of the longer length and wheelbase, the cabin space has increased, which boosts the knee room, legroom, and boot space.
The dashboard's design is a total lift off from the SsangYong Tivoli that beginning to show it's age a bit. Nonetheless, the steering wheel with flat bottom and piano black inserts lifts the ambiance of the interior. The buttons of dual-zone automatic climate control look slightly dated and cluttered. But the dashboard’s squared theme creates a big and wide look for the car of this size.
Technology & Safety features
The SsangYong Tivoli XLV is equipped with a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system that features USB, AUX, and Bluetooth capabilities, along with Mirrorlink. The vehicle also comes with a six-speaker sound system. For easier ingress and set off, the car also has a push-start system and keyless entry. The SsangYong Tivoli XLV also has steering wheel audio controls and a set of buttons to control the monochrome display flanked by a couple of cylindrical gauges for engine RPM and speed.
In terms of safety, the Tivoli XLV is equipped with dual front airbags for both the driver and passenger. In addition, it also has an Anti-lock brake system (ABS) with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD). For additional security, the XLV comes with an engine immobilizer.
Platform & Chassis
The SsangYong Tivoli XLV is a five-door crossover that can accommodate five occupants. It features a unibody frame and a suspension setup composed of MacPherson struts for the front and multi-link suspension in the rear. The Korean crossover rides on the set of aluminum alloy wheels measuring 16 inches. The stopping power is delivered by the front ventilated discs and solid discs for the rear brakes.
The SsangYong Tivoli XLV is slightly longer than the standard Tivoli model with a length of 4195 mm, a width of 1795 mm, a wheelbase of 2600 mm, and a ground clearance of 167 mm.
Engine & Drivetrain
The SsangYong Tivoli XLV is powered by the 1.6L Diesel Engine, 4 Cylinder 16 Valve that is Euro 4 compliant. The powerplant generates 113 horsepower and 300 Newton-meter of torque. It is paired with an AISIN-manufactured six-speed automatic transmission. The power generated from this engine is delivered to the front wheels. The diesel engine displacement is 1597 cc.
With a few driving modes to choose from and the torque of the car’s diesel engine, the Korean crossover makes a decent feel and engine response and, at the same time giving a good handling characteristic provided by its compact dimensions and light steering.
