2024 Suzuki XL7 Hybrid

According to the Japanese marque, the new 2024 Suzuki XL7 boasts an array of features that will elevate one’s driving experience. Chief among these is its new hybrid powertrain which promises better efficiency than ever before.

On top of that, the brand is offering an “Early Reservation Promo” for the new hybrid model. This will allow for an easier experience in getting to own the XL7 Hybrid.

So what is the XL7 Hybrid like, and what is it offering to would-be adopters? Let’s find out.

Exterior

On the outside, the 2024 Suzuki XL7 Hybrid retains the same Ertiga DNA that underpinned the previous generation model. It is still more rugged-looking and more striking than the Ertiga, and it keeps the same overall shape as well.

New to this 2024 year model though, are a pair of revised LED headlamp clusters that give the ride a more impactful look. It likewise sports a more stylish new grille, but its lower front bumper still bears a faux skid plate and a pair of front fog lamps surrounded by black plastic bits.

Up top, this new hybrid MPV gets a pair of silver-colored roof rails that go along with its black roof, black power-folding side mirrors, and black pillars. Its wheel arches and side skirts are also covered in black plastic cladding, and it rides on a set of 16-inch polished alloy wheels.

The two-tone variant gets a black-colored roof

The rear of the Suzuki XL7 Hybrid meanwhile, comes with a silver and black rear bumper, a pair of LED rear combination lamps, and a rear wiper.

Interior

Inside, the Suzuki XL7 Hybrid seats up to seven occupants. Its front cabin meanwhile, gets a wealth of silver accents on the dashboard and doors.

A peek inside the XL7 Hybrid

Keeping everyone cool inside the XL7 Hybrid is an automatic air-conditioning system for the front and a manual air-conditioner for the rear. The front cupholders get their own vents to keep your drinks cool as well.

For the driver, provided is a push-to-start button, a multi-function flat-bottom steering wheel, cruise control, and keyless engine starting. Its third-row seats can be folded with a 50:50 split, and with all the seats folded down, the XL7 features a maximum cargo volume of 803 liters.

Tech & Safety

Providing onboard entertainment and navigation for the XL7 Hybrid is a 10-inch floating-type touchscreen display. This offers Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, and it is linked to a six-piece speaker system. The driver, on the other hand, gets a sporting-looking gauge cluster that’s paired with a digital driving display.

Handling safety for the XL7 Hybrid are dual front airbags, ISOFIX child seat anchors, anti-lock braking with electronic brakeforce distribution, hill hold control, rear parking sensors, a reverse camera, an engine immobilizer, a transmission shift locker, and stability control, among others.

Engine

The biggest update on this version of the XL7 is its new mild hybrid powertrain. Like the Philippine-spec Ertiga Hybrid, it uses a 1.5-liter K15B gasoline engine that works together with an integrated starter motor (ISG) as well as a lithium-ion battery.

On the XL7 Hybrid, this system outputs a total of 103 horsepower and 138 Nm of torque. Power is sent to the vehicle’s front wheels via a four-speed automatic transmission.

This mild-hybrid powertrain also features an engine auto start-stop system for better fuel efficiency. According to tests conducted by the Automobile Association of the Philippines (AAP), this new model can return a fuel reading of 22.3 km/liter on the highway.

While this XL7 bears the word “hybrid” on its name, the Land Transportation Office (LTO) has determined that it does not meet the requirements of a hybrid vehicle as determined by the Electric Vehicle Industry Development Act. Specifically, it cannot run solely with the use of its electric motor component.

With that said, it is still subject to the Unified Vehicle Volume Reduction Program (UVVRP), otherwise known as the “Number Coding Scheme.”
