So what are the specs and features of the refreshed City hatchback for the model year 2024? Let’s talk about those to see what can be expected from this subcompact hatch model.

Exterior

The biggest exterior change on the Thai-spec 2024 City Hatchback can be found on its front end. Specifically, it now sports a larger upper and lower grille. Both of these use a new mesh pattern, while the lower one is decorated with a new protruding lower lip.

A pair of LED headlamps with automatic on-off functionality are present on the top-spec models of the City hatch. All trims meanwhile, get LED daytime running lamps.

From the side, the 2024 City Hatchback refresh for the Land Of Smiles rides on a new set of 16-inch or 15-inch alloy wheels (depending on the variant). Higher-spec trims also get power-folding side mirrors

Found on the rear of the refreshed hatch are LED taillights, and a new rear bumper. The latter gets a more eye-catching design thanks to a revamped faux diffuser.

Size-wise, the updated 2024 Honda City Hatchback has grown a bit. The higher-spec RS and e:HEV RS are now 4,369mm long. The vehicle is still 1,748mm wide, but curiously enough, the higher spec models are now taller at 1,501mm. Both the RS and e:HEV RS also have more ground clearance at 147mm.

As a reference, the Philippine-spec Honda City Hatchback RS is 4,349mm long, 1,748mm wide, and 1,488mm in height. It also has a ground clearance of 134mm.

Lastly, the top-spec e:HEV RS gets a new two-tone paint job. The RS trims still receive blacked-out exterior pieces, but the top-spec hybrid now features a new black-colored roof that may be combined with black or blue body colors.

Interior

Step inside the updated 2024 City Hatch and you’ll be greeted by a slightly redesigned cockpit. The neatly arranged dashboard looks the same, but the top-spec trims of the new Thai-spec model have ditched most of its chrome trims in favor of black-colored bits. This applies to the air-conditioning vent surrounds.

Likewise new is a seven-inch digital driving information display positioned in place of the tachometer. Based on the interior pictured, a tachometer is still available but it is also digital in form. The latter surrounds a detailed information display that monitors the status of in-vehicle features.

Other amenities found inside the refreshed City hatchback for the Thai market are leather-wrapped seats, automatic air-conditioning, a tilt and telescopic steering column, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel, among others.

Tech & Safety

For the model year 2024, the Thai-spec City hatchback gets Honda Sensing as standard. This includes autonomous emergency braking, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, automatic high beams, and adaptive cruise control.

The update adds a digital driver's display.

New though, is a lead car departure notification feature. As per its name, it informs the driver when the car in front of you has started moving from a standstill.

Besides those advanced safety bits, the refreshed Thai-spec City hatch gets a new rear seatbelt reminder and walk-away door locks. Other safety equipment available for this refreshed model include dual front airbags, front side airbags, side curtain airbags, anti-lock braking, stability control, hill-start assist, a rear-view camera, ISOFIX child seat anchors, and many others.

The Honda City Hatch comes standard with Honda Sensing.

Handling on-board entertainment for the refreshed model is an eight-inch touchscreen display. Like the refreshed 2024 Honda City sedan for the Philippines, the refreshed hatch in Thailand now comes with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Engine

Propelling the refreshed 2024 Honda City Hatchback are two engine options. The first is an internal combustion-only 1.5-liter inline-3 engine that can generate up to 120 horsepower and 173 Nm of torque. The said engine is then paired to a continuously variable transmission (CVT).

The second option meanwhile, is the 1.5-liter inline-4 e:HEV, or hybrid engine for the higher-spec trims. At maximum, its gasoline engine component can churn out 96 horsepower and 127 Nm of torque. An electric motor paired with a lithium-ion battery adds 107 hp and 253 Nm of torque to the car’s output.

For the e:HEV versions, the City hatch uses Honda’s electronic continuously variable transmissions (e-CVT).

Price

In the Land of Smiles, the 2024 Honda City Hatchback starts at 599,000 Thai Baht (around Php 939,000 at current exchange rates). The most expensive trim, the e:HEV RS meanwhile, is priced at 799,000 Thai Baht, or about Php 1,252,000 at prevailing exchange rates.
