Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) is not yet done with revamping the Vios lineup as it has axed another variant, reducing the option to six trims as of this writing.
The latest Vios trim booted out is the Vios GR-S, which is the former top-spec model of Toyota Philippines’ popular subcompact sedan. Back in December, TMP has already reduced the number of Vios variants from 10 down to seven trim options. With the Toyota Vios GR-S getting axed, the seven trim options are now further reduced to six variants.
As it currently stands, the top-spec Vios variant in the Philippines is now the 1.5 G CVT, retailing at Php 1,039,000–which is Php 16,000 less than the Vios GR-S’s Php 1,055,000 price tag.
The reason for revamping the Vios variant lineup in the local market is not clear as TMP has yet to release an official statement about it. But, TMP did confirm with Philkotse that the Vios GR-S is no longer part of the model lineup.

The Toyota Vios GR-S debuted in the Philippines last March 2021. It’s designed to be the sportier-looking variant of the standard Vios subcompact sedan, aiming to rival the likes of the Honda City RS.
The Vios GR-S comes with an appearance package courtesy of the Toyota Gazoo Racing (GR) brand. It is fitted with a revamped grille while the front bumper has a more angular look as compared to the standard Toyota Vios. It also comes with a lip spoiler, which is part of the aero kit installed in the Vios GR-S. Moreover, the Vios GR-S is equipped with LED headlights, daytime running lights, and fog lamps.
Inside, the Toyota Vios GR-S is integrated with subtle yet distinctive design tweaks. It has red stitching on the leather steering wheel as well as on the gear lever and seats. The Vios GR-S also features a restyled instrument cluster and GR embroidery on the seat headrest.
The Vios GR-S is powered by the same 1.5-liter inline-4 gasoline engine that puts out 106 horsepower and 140 Nm of torque. But, the Vios GR-S comes with a 10-speed continuously variable transmission (CVT).
As mentioned, the Vios GR-S is no longer included in the subcompact sedan’s variant lineup. Toyota Philippines’ official website now shows that the new top-of-the-line Vios trim is the 1.5 G CVT.
