For this year’s SEMA (Specialty Equipment Market Association) Show in Las Vegas, Toyota is wowing visitors with the unveiling of the GR Corolla Rally concept.

Based on the circuit edition of the Toyota GR Corolla, the Rally concept is designed in partnership with Toyota Motorsports Garage. It takes inspiration from the Toyota Gazoo Racing GR Yaris Rally1 World Rally Championship (WRC) race car, a vehicle that won the 2022 WRC Drivers’ and Manufacturers’ titles.
With that being said, the Toyota GR Corolla Rally concept has been developed with enhancements to make it ready to hit the off-roads fast and aggressively. The team fabricated functional bodywork to create maximum downforce, as well as making the car lighter to help optimize overall weight.

The carbon composite treatment on the side skirts and front splitter with a 4.5-inch overall length help reduce weight. It is also fitted with a custom-fabricated carbon fiber rear wing to improve downforce, which is important in rally stages considering the poor road traction and sharp corners.
To the sides, the Rally concept is equipped with 17-inch OZ Racing wheels in Continental Viking Contact 7, 215/60R17 tires. Fully adjustable TEIN Gravel Rally coilovers are used to optimize suspension depending on the stage and driver’s preference. As for braking, it is delivered by 14 x 1.1-inch ventilated and slotted discs with four-piston aluminum calipers.

The interior comes with two OPM Racing seats with red seat belts for the driver and co-driver (navigator). For the safety of the occupants, the team installed a custom full cage made from TIG welded 1 3/4-inch x .095 DOM steel and a fire suppression system.
Powering the Toyota GR Corolla Rally concept is the same 1.6-liter G16E-GTS turbocharged engine found in the standard model. Since it is based on the circuit edition, the power unit should deliver 300 horsepower and 370 Nm of torque. A 6-speed manual transmission is used to send power to all four wheels.

Toyota has no plans of bringing the Rally concept to the big stage just yet as of this writing. But at least we got to see what the GR Corolla looks like dressed up and ready to rumble. The Rally concept is joined by the GR Supra ‘10-SECOND TWINS,’ GR86 Daily Drifter, and the GR86 Cup Car at the car custom show.
