Following the introduction of the Toyota Corolla Cross GR-S (Gazoo Racing Sport) earlier this year, Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) has now brought the GR-S version of the nameplate’s sedan model, the Corolla Altis. It is installed with enhancements that add sportiness to the design, as well as the brand’s Toyota Safety Sense.

In a report by Autoindustriya.com, the new 2022 Toyota Corolla Altis GR-S is based on the PH-spec model’s non-hybrid V variant. The exterior gets sporty GR-S exclusives such as a larger honeycomb pattern grille, a rear bumper lip, side skirts, 17-inch alloy wheels, and black side mirrors. To create a distinction from the rest of the range, the new variant has the GR-S badge on the trunk lid.
The interior comes with sporty aesthetics as seen in the integration of red contrast stitching on areas such as the full leather seats and steering wheel. GR-S badges can also be found in the cabin including on the engine start/stop button and the floor mats.

As said earlier, the Corolla Altis GR-S boasts the brand’s advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) called the Toyota Safety Sense. It offers features such as Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC), Lane Departure Alert (LDA), Pre-Collision System (PCS), among others. Other tech amenities include an 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, six speakers, and a reverse camera.
Powering the sportier-looking compact sedan is a 1.6-liter 4-cylinder 1ZR-FE gasoline engine that makes 121 horsepower and 153 Nm of torque. This engine is connected to a continuously variable transmission (CVT) only.
