Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) announced that the second leg of the Toyota Gazoo Racing Vios Cup 2021 has been rescheduled to prioritize the health and safety of participants. The organizers of the event decided to move the race date from September 11 to October 8, 2021.

The 2021 Vios Cup has been rescheduled due to COVID-19

With this, TMP hopes that it can help curb the COVID-19 cases in the country, considering the recent surge of new cases. The postponement of the event will also allow more time for the racers and teams to prepare for the competition. No spectators will still be allowed on race day for safety as well.

“As committed when we opened the 2021 race season, the safety and well-being of our participants and partners will be our top priority. In view of the current surge in COVID-19 cases and the enforcement of new quarantine guidelines, we decided it is best for everyone to move the 2nd leg originally scheduled on September 11 to a latter date – October 16,” said TMP President Atsuhiro Okamoto.

As a recap, the first leg of the Toyota Gazoo Racing Vios Cup held at Clark International Speedway, happened on July 9 and 10. It consists of three race classes, namely Promotional, Sporting, and Super Sporting. Additionally, media partners, celebrities, and influencers also participated in the Autocross Challenge.

The second round will now take place on October 16

In the meantime, to keep race fans engaged, TMP is encouraging them to watch the replay which is available on its official Facebook account and YouTube channels. As for the third leg of the tournament, it is currently slated for November 6, barring last-minute changes. Both the second and third rounds can be viewed live via the brand’s said social media accounts.

“We look forward to seeing you on the next race weekend in October. For now, we would like to remind everyone to stay safe and strictly follow safety and precautionary measures,” added Okamoto.
