Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) is arriving at the Quirino Grandstand for the national finals of the Toyota Gazoo Racing Gran Turismo Cup (TGR GT Cup).
The stage for the national finals is set
After the third and final round local round last August 4, the top eight e-racers that made the national finals will go head to head for a chance to represent the Philippines in the Asia Regional in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Here is the list of players from the Sporting class who will race at the national finals:
- Russel Reyes
- Jether Miole
- Matthew Ang
- Mark Elman
- Luis Moreno
- Topher Tejada
- Estefano Rivera
- Bob Villangca
The upcoming e-race will follow the final local round that saw Russel Reyes winning it all in the Sporting Class. He was trailed by Jether Miole in second and Matthew Spencer Ang in third. The race was virtually held at the Nurburgring with the drivers piloting the GR010 Hybrid.
TMP also ran other classes in the TGR GT Cup. The Junior Class had David Enzo Ison in first, Russo Gabriel Formoso in second, and Satoshi Jacobo Taguchi Paredes in third. Meanwhile, the Promotional Class saw Stanley Theodore Gonzale in first, Jan Rese Cortez Aldiosa in second, and Benedict Salido in third.
Russel Reyes came out on top of the Sporting Class
The national finals will be part of the bigger TGR Festival in Manila this August 23 and 24. It will bring out renowned international and local names in the racing scene including Morizo (the racing pseudonym of Toyota Motor Corporation Chairman Aiko Toyoda) and TGR Ambassador Marlon Stockinger.
Exciting Toyota cars will join the fun including the GR Supra, GR Yaris, and GR86. Meanwhile, world-class rally cars such as the Toyota WRC (World Rally Championship) Yaris and Red Bull GR Corolla will be putting on a show along with local brands and artists.
The TGR GT Cup will be happening on August 24. Admission is free for the two-day duration of the festival.
