Suzuki launched a more rugged edition of the Jimny in Malaysia and it's something we would also want to see on local roads. Dubbed the Jimny Rhino Edition, it is limited to just 30 units and is priced at RM174,900 or around Php 2 million at current exchange rates.
The Jimny Rhino Edition
So what does one get with the Rhino Edition? According to Suzuki Malaysia, it leans more toward the old school. For its front end, it comes with a new grille that does not get the usual vertical slats present on the standard Jimny.
Its side then features chrome side mirrors while its wheel wells are protected by red-colored mud flaps with the “Jimny” lettering, as well as a side decal that says “Real Offroader. From the rear, it gets a tire cover that features a stylized image of a Rhinoceros. Lastly, it gets an all-white exterior paint job and plenty of red, grey, and black decals.

A report from Paul Tan said that this version of the Jimny mostly has the same mechanical bits as the regular model. It still uses a 1.5-liter engine capable of generating 101 horsepower and 130 Nm of torque. The said engine is then mated to a four-speed automatic gearbox with a part-time 4x4 system. The only functional improvements found on this special edition model are front and rear differential guards.
While new to Malaysia, the exact same appearance pack was introduced to Japan back in 2020. In its home market, it also had more variety. There was one with a beige exterior color decorated with a camo-style decal, and one that came in blue.
Philippine-spec Suzuki Jimny
The new Suzuki Jimny Rhino Edition is exclusive to the Malaysian market for now. In the near future though, we’re hoping to see Suzuki Philippines launch similar style packages for the well-known mini offroader. Many of these, after all, have already been launched in the global market–none of which the local market got.
