The Suzuki Jimny is one of the most recognizable vehicles on the road thanks to its renowned history that started in 1970. To celebrate the mini SUV’s origins, the Japanese automaker rolled out the Jimny Heritage special edition.
Suzuki Jimny Heritage Edition
Limited to 300 units only, the Suzuki Jimny Heritage comes with exclusive bits to separate it from the standard model. The most noticeable is the retro style decals on the sides and back that some might find familiar from classic SUVs. This special edition also gets red mud flaps and a unique cargo tray.
Apart from the retro-inspired visuals, the Heritage Edition is also fitted with features from the standard Jimny. These include features like LED projector headlamps, front fog lights, and a set of 15-inch alloys. Meanwhile, the interior comes with fabric seats, a 7-inch touchscreen with Bluetooth and satellite navigation, two speakers, and digital climate control.
Interestingly though, cruise control is not part of the equipment list. One can say that the automaker aims to faithfully simulate the old-school driving experience by removing the aforementioned feature.
It gets red and orange decals with the Jimny Heritage logo
Speaking of old-school driving, the 4-speed automatic gearbox isn’t made available in the Heritage Edition either. Instead, it exclusively uses a 5-speed manual transmission. This is then connected to a 1.5-liter gasoline engine capable of generating 101 horsepower and 130 Nm of torque.
The part-time 4WD system is also part of the drivetrain, which should encourage the 300 owners to go out for an off-road adventure. It offers 2H for improved fuel efficiency on paved roads, as well as 4H and 4L for better traction on off-roads.
Suzuki is selling the Jimny Heritage in Australia with a starting price of 33,490 Australian dollars. That’s around P1.244 million at current exchange rates. Available color options for this limited edition Jimny includes White, Bluish Black Pearl, Jungle Green, and Medium Grey.
The legacy continues
While it appears like we’re not getting this retro-looking version, Suzuki Philippines did touch on the possibility of bringing the 5-door Jimny locally earlier this year. But so far, Australia gets the upper hand once again as the long wheelbase Jimny was confirmed to arrive in the Land Down Under by Q4 2023.
