The road closure will make way for Independence Day activities.

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) announces via a Facebook post that a section of Roxas Boulevard will be temporarily closed to traffic on June 12, 2023. This was decided to facilitate celebratory activities for the 125th Anniversary of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence.

More specifically, the road closure will affect the scratch of Roxas Blvd. from TM Kalaw to P. Burgos. Both lanes will be closed for this section from 5 a.m. to 10 a.m. on the indicated date for a flag-raising ceremony.

Other roads, namely Katigbak Parkway, South Road, and Independence Road, will be temporarily closed from 12:01 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. on the same day. This meanwhile, intends to provide room for a civic military parade.

To maintain order and public safety, the MMDA will be deploying tow trucks, ambulances, and vacuum trucks in key areas. Traffic enforcers will likewise be present during the said road closures.

Specific areas where the aforementioned road closures are happening will also see the deployment of concrete and plastic barriers.

To that end, the MMDA has shared alternate routes for affected trucks. For trucks heading to North Harbor, they are advised to reroute from the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) straight ahead to Osmeña Highway, then make a right towards Quirino Avenue, then straight to Nagtahan Street, onwards to Lacson Avenue, make a left turn to Yuseco Street, straight towards Capulong Street, then take a right turn or left turn towards R-10 road, then head to their destination.

Trucks coming from Parañaque meanwhile, are advised to take a right at Quirino Avenue to Nagtahan, then head to Lacson Avenue to destination. Trucks from the north heading southward can also use this route.

Traffic around the Rizal Park area will likewise be heavier than usual due to road closures. So if one has to go out on June 12, 2023, we advise you to find alternate routes and avoid the said road to avoid getting trapped in traffic.
