Production won’t happen until 2024, but reservations for the US are now open.

The 2024 RAM 1500 REV has been revealed at the recently concluded National Football League (NFL) Super Ball event, via a commercial. This signifies that its official launch is imminent. In fact, RAM is already accepting orders for its first-ever, fully electric-powered pickup truck.

Note that this follows the Ram 1500 Revolution Concept which was unveiled a month ago at the 2023 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. That said, the RAM 1500 REV takes some inspiration from the concept, though there are some notable differences.

For starters, the front fascia’s general shape appears to have gained some additional vents on the lower bumper. The outline of the LED headlamps then gains a more rounded contour with smoother edges. Meanwhile, the individual lighting elements inside the cluster were reduced to two instead of four on the concept truck.

Moving upwards, the muscular hood present in the concept appears to have been carried over to the production model. Then again, it appears that the production version RAM 1500 REV has lost the two-tone look of the concept, as its pillars now come with the same color as its body.

The angularity of the RAM 1500 REV’s side section was also toned down with smaller wheel arches, and less dramatic body lines. In contrast, the Ram 1500 REV Revolution Concept came with particularly beefy wheel arches that made it look wider than it is.

It is then from the rear of the EV truck that we can see that it is more similar to the regular fossil-fuel RAM 1500 than the RAM 1500 Revolution Concept. Remember that the RAM 1500 Revolution Concept came with a rather sharp pair of taillights. Also, its bed featured a thick black-colored border which separates it from the main body.

The RAM 1500 REV’s bed meanwhile, looks more seamlessly linked to the main cabin. Furthermore, it gets a simpler tailgate, as well as a more conventional-looking LED taillight set.

It looks more like the regular 1500 model

It is likewise from the Superbowl commercial that we can take a bit of a peek at the RAM 1500 REV’s interior.

As expected, it looks similar to the regular, internal combustion-powered sibling. The large, vertically-oriented UConnect touchscreen headunit is present, and it gets a similar chunky but well-arranged dashboard as well.

Do remember also that the earlier concept version was equipped with a third-row seat. In the case of the RAM 1500 REV, we aren’t sure if this feature was kept since it wasn’t shown outright in the Super Bowl advertisement. But if we consider how its front cabin mirrors the one on the regular RAM 1500 then a third row is highly unlikely.

The 1500 REV takes some design cues from the concept, but it is toned down

Other specs like output figures, range, and the type of motor and battery the RAM 1500 REV comes with are yet to be shared by the brand. Moreover, the actual production for this RAM model won’t happen until 2024.

As mentioned above, however, customer reservations for the 1500 REV are now available via the RamREV website for a refundable $100 (around Php 5,500) reservation fee. Note though that this reservation for the upcoming electric-powered RAM is only available for US-based customers, for now.
