Due to the upcoming observance of Undas 2021, the Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC) is expecting a 10 percent increase in traffic volume along its expressways. That being the case, the toll road company is implementing its “Safe Trip Mo Sagot Ko” (SMSK) to accommodate motorists during the long weekend.
Undas 2021 is expected to bring more motorists on the road
One of the services under the SMSK is the free towing service in partnership with Prestone. This is readily available to motorists whose vehicles can no longer run safely due to encountering mechanical problems on the road. Considering that many motorists will be going home to their provinces, this service can help keep the road safe and clear at all times.
The free towing service will be offered from October 29, 6:00 a.m. to November 2, 6:00 a.m. MPTC said this is open to Class 1 vehicles, which are those with a height of under seven feet. These generally include sedans, pickup trucks, SUVs, and jeepneys that are for private use.
SMSK's Free Towing Service
Another service under the SMSK involves the deployment of around 1,200 patrol crews, security teams, lane personnel, and traffic marshals. They will man the expressways to ensure that not only the proper road regulations are followed, but the minimum health and safety protocols as well.
Moreover, MPTC will adopt extended working hours to manage road situations during the observance of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day. With this, high volume areas such as Balintawak, Karuhutan, Mindanao, San Simon, Bocaue, Tarlac, San Fernando, and Tipo will be closely monitored.
NLEX Corporation aims to keep its tollways safe
Take note, the SMSK’s free towing service is available to expressways including the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX), Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX), Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAX), C5 Link, and Manila-Cavite Expressway (CAVITEX). Motorists may call the 24/7 hotline (1-35000) to avail of the motorist assistance program.
